Kurzbeschreibung
The Institute for Rotorcraft and Vertical Flight focuses on the education and research of Rotorcraft and other VTOLs (Vertical Take-Off and Landing aircraft) as a whole system. Building upon knowledge in mechanics, thermodynamics, aerodynamics, and control engineering, as well as subjects related to aerospace engineering, the fundamental principles of helicopter design, system development, verification, and certification are conveyed. As a comprehensive chair, the Institute of Rotorcraft and Vertical Flight has a broad scope. In addition to a rotor test rig, the chair also operates its own research drone and simulator. Furthermore, a focus of the chair is the design and manufacturing of rotor blades and other rotorcraft structures. In addition to experimental investigations, simulation plays a significant role, particularly in the areas of aerodynamics, dynamics, and their interactions within the helicopter and VTOL system.
